The Village is a sanctuary for young people who want to determine their own path.
Here we build and create every day. It's all about ACTION. You're experiencing it!
With this (gap year) program we offer you:

The workshop: You are welcome in the workshop where you can endlessly experiment with doing it yourself: Here is a wood workshop, steel workshop, a sewing studio, a potter's wheel and a (vegetable) garden with chickens! Take matters into your own hands and learn how to make something yourself!

The Villagers: You learn from other Villagers: A network of people of all ages and backgrounds who want to give workshops. You [partly] choose who you want to follow workshops from. Here too you discover that you can learn endlessly.

The trajectory: In 2 months, 3 days a week you will follow workshops, participate in actions - and discover who you are in the process. You will create your own learning journey in which you will embark on your own adventure, and you will work on your own projects.

400M2 of space to mess around. That's what the workshop is. Tree houses to draw in, space to sew, sculpt, build light boxes & feed the chickens. Whatever you want.
You will have at least 2 hours of free time each day you are here to work on your own project. Click here for pictures of the place!
WORKPLACE
We start the process by looking for free building materials from which you can build your own chair. From the Villagers ' offerings, you then put together (part of) your own program.
We also participate in a different social project in the public space each time: from shadow art for animals in the hot summers to the renovation of bus shelters in collaboration with the municipality.

COMMUNITY
Here we organize movie nights and BBQ parties. It is all about community. We learn from each other and together you are the school.
In addition to the regular trajectory, this place is also made available to more established artists. They work on their own projects at the same time as you.

It
procedure
The trajectory lasts 2 months, is 3 days a week from 10:00 to 16:00, costs €1650,- and consists of a number of fixed components. But, together we make the program. So with your input and ideas, each program is unique and different.
You will end up in a group of maximum 15 people. In doing so, you and the coach will discover more about you and where your talents lie. You will also help each other as a group with giving feedback. Together, you are the school! The trajectory consists of the following components:

You are young and you want something. Logical. Get out of the classroom, throw your phone in a corner and discover the world. Here you take initiative. Not because someone tells you to, but because you want to do or discover something yourself. We introduce you to all kinds of directions and possibilities. The goal is that you

The Village coaches are watching, encouraging and helping you move forward. So experiment, and do. This is your time.
We have long tried out what really works for the optimal development of people. Our approach is based on Homo universalis and Homo Ludens.

MAARTEN
Maarten is eigenaar van de werkplaats en bouwt al jaren de meest waanzinnige hutten en projecten. Hij weet alles van hout, is muzikant en kan eindeloos veel truucjes. Hij zorgt voor een relaxte, fijne sfeer en staat altijd klaar om je te helpen.
The Village is a community of people who know that learning and living together can be different. They are there to help you, to learn what they can do and know and would also like to get to know you better.
IRIS
Iris is de oprichter van De Village. Zij is hoofdcoach in het traject. Ze is een echte aanjager, naait graag performance-outfits, weet alles over kippen en is onderwijsexpert op Herman Brood Academie.
